Lecture: Exhibition Catalogue & Paper Types

Today we had a class that began in our Pop-Up Exhibition space to discuss our upcoming exhibition catalogue production. We looked at previously created catalogues from the graduating classes of 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018.

Each catalogue changed slightly, whether that was cover style, colours or size! But it gave everyone general ideas of what we all want to produce for our final exhibition.

From this we then moved back to uni to look at different paper types for producing our work on. Following the exhibition, we’re all slightly further ahead with knowing what we do and don’t want and what does and doesn’t work! So Liam talked us through a variety of paper types, I personally like the more matte paper type for my work at the moment, I took note of:

  • Matt FineArt Textured:
    • Photo Rag – Ultra Smooth – 305gsm
    • Photo Rag – Bright White – 310gsm
    • William Turner – 190gsm or 310gsm
  • G.F Smith:
    • Accent Smooth – Glacier White – 160gsm
    • Mohawk Superfine – Ultrawhite Smooth – 148gsm
